Bastrop real estate growth over the past few years has been significant. Having lived in Bastrop for several years, I have witnessed first-hand the growth and influx of new residents to Bastrop. As a result of all the new Bastrop real estate growth and rising property values, the city of Bastrop has raised funds and began construction of the new Bastrop ISD High School (named Cedar Creek High School), the Bastrop Memorial Athletic Complex and the Jerry Fay Wilhelm Center for the Performing Arts.
Cedar Creek High School Opens Next Year
Rapidly coming together on Hwy 71 between Bastrop and Austin, Cedar Creek High School began construction with funds from the issuance of bonds that are being paid for through a tax increase to owners of Bastrop homes. It is scheduled to open for the 2010-2011 school year. With a 1500-student capacity, this will certainly take a load off of the current Bastrop ISD High School.
Championship-worthy Football Stadium
The Bastrop Memorial Athletic Complex, located at 755 Hwy 21 Cedar Creek, Texas, is a spectacular stadium that will be shared between the Cedar Creek and Bastrop High Schools. Features include a Jumbo-Tron with instant replay, a modern press box, seating for 8,000 and Tiger Trophy Turf. The original cost of the complex was slated for $17M, but costs were cut to around $14M.
Watch a Play or Musical in Style
The Jerry Fay Wilhelm Center for the Performing Arts is a beautiful 1,500-seat arts center. Estimated at almost $15M to build, this center is available for use by national touring plays and arts events. With 300 theatre-style box seats, this center would be a great place to watch a show!
